Tuesday morning saw Kyle Lowry announce his plans to retire from the NBA after what was a 20-year stint in the league, all of it coming after he put pen to paper on a one-day contract with the Toronto Raptors, the franchise that he spent the most time with, culminating in a championship during the 2018-19 season.

But the Raptors weren’t the only side for Lowry to be a part of during his two-decade-long journey in the league, getting his start with the Memphis Grizzlies during the 2006-07 season, before getting moved to the Houston Rockets and Miami Heat later in his career. But the last destination for Lowry when it came to playing was back in the City of Brotherly Love, where he was born, signing with the Philadelphia 76ers midway through the 2023-24 season.

The Philadelphia native wouldn’t live up to the numbers that he had once been producing earlier in his career, having taken more of a veteran role on the Sixers, but this won him the hearts and minds of his teammates. Many of whom reposted Lowry’s announcement on Tuesday morning, some would even include personal messages to the 20-year veteran, with Dominick Barlow being one of those players.

On Instagram, Barlow offered his thoughts and appreciation for Lowry, explaining tha the was one of the better teammates he’s had in his time playing, both in the game and outside of it.

“One of my favorite teammates of all time your on court accomplishments are second to none but the person you are off the court made everyone around you better congrats on a helluva career,” Barlow’s statement reads.

While the two only shared one year together on the Sixers, being on the court for a total of 12 games, it’s apparent that Lowry’s veteran presence was something that stuck out to Barlow, who is set to return to the Xfinity Mobile Arena after a breakout season in the City of Brotherly Love.
