Dallas Cowboys cornerback Cobie Durant was named as a breakout candidate for the team heading into the 2026 NFL season by Moe Moton of Bleacher Report. 

The Cowboys signed Durant to a one-year, $5.5 million deal in free agency in March after he spent the first four years of his career with the Los Angeles Rams. In Dallas,

Durant will have an opportunity to further establish himself in the league. If he has a good season in Dallas, he could be in line for a more lucrative contract next summer. 

“Even with those solid numbers, Durant had to settle for a one-year, $4 million prove-it deal with the Dallas Cowboys, but he’s made a strong early impression. According to The Athletic’s Jon Machota, Durant ‘stood out’ among the Cowboys’ cornerbacks, and the team will utilize his versatility,” Moton wrote. 

“In February of next year, Durant will turn 29, but he’s an experienced starter who could garner strong interest after a standout year with the Cowboys. His ability to line up on the perimeter and in the slot may also bolster his market value if he makes more plays on the ball.” 

Durant will likely start for the Cowboys in 2026, but he’ll have to earn that starting spot in training camp. If he has a good year, the $5.5 million contract the Cowboys inked him to will look like a bargain.
