49ers wide receivers Demarcus Robinson, Mike Evans exit early with apparent injuries

The San Francisco 49ers are running out of wide receivers.

The 49ers entered Sunday already dealing with a shortage at the position before Demarcus Robinson was carted to the locker room with an ankle injury and Mike Evans suffered a hip injury in a 35-13 win over the Dolphins at Levi’s Stadium.

Evans, the 49ers’ No. 1 wideout, didn’t return after he had a 27-yard reception late in the third quarter in which he leapt out of bounds at the 1-yard line. It’s possible Evans avoided a serious injury. He wasn’t surrounded by medical personnel on the sideline as he observed the final 18 minutes from the sideline and didn’t appear hindered while walking. 

Evans could have been held out due to the lopsided score. The 49ers took a 35-6 lead one play after he exited.

Meanwhile, Robinson didn’t return after he appeared to twist his right ankle while making a 19-yard reception in the second quarter. Robinson hopped off the field, entered the medical tent and exited to the locker room on a cart several minutes later.

Without Robinson and Evans, the 49ers finished the game with three wideouts on their game-day roster: Deebo Samuel, Jacob Cowing and KhaDarel Hodge. Jordan Watkins, a 2025 fourth-round pick, was a healthy scratch.

The 49ers arrived without rookie wide receiver De’Zhaun Stribling, their top draft pick who had ankle surgery Wednesday and is expected to be sidelined for at least 10 weeks. Ricky Pearsall, their 2024 first-round pick, had season-ending knee surgery this summer.
