Brandon Aiyuk has gashed the San Francisco 49ers many times since 2024, and those wounds may never fully heal. But the memories he created with his teammates might also stand the test of time. Trent Williams sill cares for the controversial wide receiver.

“I haven’t talked to him, but you know, obviously Aiyuk is family,” the three-time First-Team All-Pro left tackle told reporters, per the OurSF49ers X account. “You know what he went through with his career and business endeavors, you know, you kind of got to step back and let somebody just let him figure it out. We just focus on the Raiders. He come in, {I’ll} be happy to see him, obviously, but that’s out of my hands.”

Aiyuk and agent Drew Rosenhaus will meet with the 49ers on Friday to discuss a path forward, leaving many to speculate. Will the organization release him? Is there any chance that the 2023 Second-Team All-Pro suits up again for the franchise that drafted him back in 2020? Williams does not seem to hold a grudge. Other members of the locker room may feel differently, however.

When healthy and at full force, Aiyuk can certainly provide a boost to any offense, but he has not played in an NFL game since tearing his ACL, MCL and meniscus versus the Kansas City Chiefs on October 20, 2024. His attitude is also a potential drawback.

49ers’ Trent Williams addresses uncomfortable Brandon

Brandon Aiyuk engaged in a training camp hold-in and nearly got himself traded after a tense contract standoff, before ultimately inking a $120 million extension. He suffered season-ending injuries less than two months into the 2024 campaign and then eventually became disgruntled once again. The 28-year-old has flung several insults at the 49ers and stated his desire to play elsewhere. Both John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan appear mentally over the entire ordeal.

Perhaps Aiyuk and the 49ers can finally reach a resolution. Trent Williams understands the complicated nature of this situation. Do not expect him to side against management, but the future Hall of Famer clearly still has room in his heart for the former No. 11.
