It feels like week in and week out, the San Francisco 49ers are dealing with some sort of new injury over the past couple of years.

It’s unfortunate that San Francisco has had to go through this in recent seasons, but everyone’s gotten used to it. Ultimately, the 49ers will deal with injuries, and all they can hope for is that things go as planned in the playoffs.

If the 49ers get healthy at the right time, they clearly have a chance to win a Super Bowl. And during the trade deadline, the 49ers could be interested in a lot.

Sitting at 5-0 and two games ahead in the NFC West after an impressive Week 5 win over the Seattle Seahawks, it seemed San Francisco would be interested in adding to its defensive line.

However, according to the latest report, the priority is elsewhere: the wide receiver position.

“Wild development considering the 49ers are down their entire starting D-line: It’s probably not even a top trade priority anymore. That’s how much the young guys are surging,” David Lombardi wrote.

“WR emerging as the top trade priority. But this is a narrative-shattering surge from the D-line.”

The 49ers have gotten a lot of production from some young guys off that defensive line, a very promising sign for the organization’s future and immediate term. As for the wide receiver aspect, it’s also a promising sign that Mike Evans is playing this type of football.

Entering the year, many questioned whether Evans was still the type of player that he had been throughout much of his career. With San Francisco, he looks just as good as ever.
