When the Los Angeles Rams took care of the New York Giants in commanding fashion in Week 2, securing a 28-6 win under the Monday Night Football lights, a prevailing narrative emerged that the team would be 2-0 if it wasn’t for Sean McVay’s decision to fly his team out two days before their season debut in Australia instead of a week in advance like the San Francisco 49ers.

Understandably, with George Kittle booked as a guest on the Tuesday edition of his namesake show, Rich Eisen wants to ask the 49ers tight end for comment on that opinion, with the seven-time Pro Bowler refusing to give the excuse credence.

“I think we’re a pretty good team. So I think straight up we beat the Rams, but they’re also an incredible team with incredible talent, and Aaron Donald looked pretty good last night – darn it, Aaron. But I mean that, that whole thing, I mean, when, when they told us we’re going out a week early and then the Rams announced they’re going out two days, I was like, ‘Yeah, well, let’s see who has the best plan,'” Kittle said.

“And then I would just say, after being there for two days, I was totally in a brain fog, and sleepy and tired. So I think that would have been tough to play a football game on, but, you know, the Rams went out and did it; they did it their way. And I just saw a Sean McVay quote from yesterday. I think it was, ‘you know, sometimes you just make a bad decision.’ He used other words, but I laughed pretty hard at that. And I appreciate the accountability from Sean McVay.”

Fortunately for fans of football the world over, this rematch isn’t purely hypothetical, as the two squads will duke it out once more in Week 14 at Levi’s Stadium. While that matchup is technically a road game for the Rams, considering it’s only a 90-minute flight, the two sides should be able to duke it out on even playing ground with NFC West seeding on the line.
