49ers injury news: Christian McCaffrey questionable vs. Falcons

The San Francisco 49ers had some bad injury news on Christian McCaffrey early in the second quarter of Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons.

McCaffrey wasn’t on the field at all during the 49ers’ third series of the game while trainers worked on him on the sideline. He went to the medical tent with a quad injury and is officially questionable to return.

In Week 6 McCaffrey had a season-high 25 touches, and he opened Sunday’s game with seven touches on San Francisco’s first two possessions. It’s unclear when he was banged up.

Kaelon Black got heavy usage on the 49ers’ series without McCaffrey. He ran three times for 52 yards and a touchdown.

We’ll have an update as soon as San Francisco provides one.
