The 6-foot-6 senior out of Dynamic Prep (TX) is ranked as the No. 45 overall recruit in the 2027 class and the No. 10 ranked small forward, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, an average of all three major recruiting media companies (Rivals, ESPN, 247Sports).

Williams ultimately picked ASU over TCU, but also received offers from Kentucky, Washington, Oklahoma State, SMU, and others.

Howard Williams went in-depth on his decision to choose Arizona State with Rivals.

“I decided to commit to ASU because they treated me like a priority from the beginning. They showed me how I will fit into the program. I believe in the vision that they have set for me, and I feel like ASU is the place I can develop and reach my goal to be in the NBA. My relationship with the coaching staff is very strong. They have been consistent since the beginning and always kept it real with me. I trust them with my development and future.”

In his own words, what type of player is Arizona State getting in Howard Williams?

“I’d describe myself as a versatile wing. I can score on all three levels, make plays for my teammates, defend multiple positions, and can play without the ball.”

He has a message for ASU fans.

“Sun Devil fans, get ready. I’m coming to ASU to work and win games. I’m going to bring energy and effort every single time I step onto the court. We are going to build something special. Forks up

Williams, a native of Chicago, becomes the Sun Devils’ second commitment in the 2027 class, joining four-star small forward Carson Crawford (No. 47 nationally). New Arizona State coach Randy Bennett has now landed two top-50 high school recruits since arriving in Tempe this offseason after spending the previous 25 years at Saint Mary’s, where he became the program’s all-time winningest coach with 589 wins and led the Gaels to 12 NCAA Tournament appearances.

During his junior season with Overtime Elite (GA), Williams averaged 13.3 points and 5.8 rebounds, while shooting 43% from the field and 35.4% from three-point range.

“Howard Williams immediately stands out on the floor because of his physical makeup, Rivals National Recruiting Analyst Jamie Shaw wrote in July. “Every bit of 6-foot-6, if not 6-foot-7, he is very strong (225 range) with great length. Williams has shooting touch, and will consistently knock down catch and shoot threes. You want to see him make some plays, on both ends, closer to the basket at times. But there remains intrigue with his game.”
