3 takeaways from Jets' unofficial depth chart before Week 1

The New York Jetsreleased an unofficial depth chart before Sunday’s Week 1 regular-season opener versus the Tennessee Titans.

The word “unofficial” is key. Things can easily change once game day rolls around. Regardless, there are some very notable takeaways as head coach Aaron Glenn is setting his lineup for the Titans matchup.

With that, here are Jets Wire’s three takeaways from the team’s depth chart ahead of the 2026 NFL season:

Veteran free agent signings Kingsley Enagbare and Joseph Ossai are listed as the starting EDGE rushers. The Jets splurged in free agency to upgrade the defensive end spots, and both players they attracted are listed as starters. Rookie No. 2 overall pick David Bailey is listed as a backup, as is Will McDonald IV. Ossai has been battling an injury, and appears primed to miss opening weekend.

Right before the 53-man roster cutdown deadline, the Jets acquired veteran offensive lineman Jordan Meredith from the Las Vegas Raiders in a late-round pick swap. Meredith is listed as the Jets’ primary backup at left guard, center, and right guard. He’s played all three positions, and the Jets clearly value his versatility.

Unsurprisingly, sophomore tight end Mason Taylor is listed as the primary starter at the position. Rookie Kenyon Sadiq is listed as his backup. In reality, the Jets will play both of them quite frequently. Sadiq missed a large portion of training camp through an injury-related setback, but is recovering in time to play versus the Titans in Week 1.
