3 former Beavers named to MLB All-Star Game roster

Three former Oregon State Beavers baseball players have been selected to play in the 2026 MLB All-Star Game.

Travis Bazzana, Drew Rasmussen and Adley Rutschman will represent their respective teams in the contest July 14 in Philadelphia. It’s the second straight year three former Beavers earned a nod as Oregon State’s stamp on professional baseball continues to be among the most impactful in the country.

Bazzana, a rookie second baseman for the Cleveland Guardians, will make his first MLB All-Star appearance in his first season in the majors. The first overall pick of the 2024 MLB Draft, Bazzana made his big-league debut in April and has quickly become a staple in the Guardians’ lineup and one of the most impactful second basemen in the American League.

The 23-year-old Australian boasts a .244 batting average in 225 at-bats through the 2026 season, hitting seven home runs and 26 RBIs in the process. He’s stolen 12 bases. Defensively, Bazzana has made just five errors in 59 games for a .976 fielding percentage.

Bazzana spent three seasons in Corvallis with the Beavers from 2022-24 and collected as many individual accolades as any other player throughout his tenure. The former first-team all-American, Golden Spikes Award finalist and Pac-12 Player of the Year has continued his upward career trajectory through the Guardians’ organization and has been awarded with his first major league all-star appearance for his work.

Rasmussen, the Tampa Bay Rays‘ ace pitcher, is making his second consecutive appearance in the MLB All-Star Game.

Rasmussen, 30, holds a 7-4 win/loss record from the mound for the American League East-leading Rays. In 97 innings pitched this spring, he boasts a 2.74 ERA and 96 strikeouts. His ERA is the 12th-best in the majors.

Rasmussen, like Bazzana, spent three years at Oregon State. From 2015-17, Rasmussen collected all-Pac-12 honors and was a force to be reckoned with on the mound until he was selected in the 2018 MLB Draft.

Rutschman is making his third appearance in the game. The Baltimore Orioles catcher made appearances in the 2023 and 2024 iterations of the contest.

Rutschman was the first overall pick of the 2019 MLB Draft after serving as the Beavers’ catcher from 2017-19. With the Beavers, Rutschman was named to several first-team all-American lists, earned 2019 Pac-12 Player of the Year honors and was named the College World Series Most Outstanding Player when Oregon State won the championship in 2018.

His list of individual and team accolades from his time in Corvallis is long, and his list of MLB accomplishments continues to grow.

In 2026, Rutschman has 59 hits, eight home runs and 47 RBIs in 228 at-bats. The 28-year-old from Portland holds above league-average value in nearly every statistical category behind the plate. He has the second highest caught-stealing percentage in all of baseball and was awarded with his third MLB All-Star appearance for his contributions to the Orioles this season.

The 2026 MLB All-Star Game will be held July 14 at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. First pitch is booked for 5 p.m. Pacific on FOX and coverage begins at 4 p.m.
