3 biggest Steelers concerns through 2 preseason games
Two games into the preseason and we are starting to see what the Pittsburgh Steelers have on the roster and you can begin to see what the team is hoping to do this season. But after a big win in the first preseason game, only to follow it up with a miserable outing on Friday night, there are still plenty of concerns with just two weeks to the start of the season.
Here are our three biggest concerns we still have and no, the Will Howard vs Drew Allar battle isn’t among them.
Pittsburgh has invested heavily into its offensive line in recent years but it seems like they are going to go into the regular season with a seventh-round pick and an undrafted free agent as their starters on the right side. Spencer Anderson and Dylan Cook rotated in but have struggled and with Broderick Jones and rookie Max Iheanachor not ready to go, the offensive line is far and away the biggest worry on the roster right now.
We’ve always been of the mind that it is a good thing to get all of your starters on the field together, even if in a limited role, in the preseason. However, it seems that when the Steelers take the field in Week One of the regular season, it will be the first live action of the year for quarterback Aaron Rodgers and wide receivers DK Metcalf and Michael Pittman Jr.
Press conferences and practices are one thing but we won’t know until that first regular season game if Mike McCarthy’s system works and the team is all-in on it. We are worried that the new system is going to look an awful lot like the old one once the regular season starts because of the players on the roster.
