Taken: Natalee Holloway premiered on Netflix on Wednesday, November 4, and has received praise for its comprehensive overview of the mysterious case, with Beth providing the emotional core of the narrative. Featuring new FBI footage of Holloway’s confessed killer, Taken: Natalee Holloway is one of the best new series on Netflix for true crime fans to binge this weekend. With its movie-length runtime of just 1 hour and 52 minutes, Netflix subscribers can easily watch the entire series from start to finish in just one sitting.

Under Siege

Under Siege is one of the best new Netflix series worth watching this weekend that has mostly flown under the radar ahead of its release on Friday, November 6. The historical thriller series chronicles the infamous 1985 hostage crisis that took place at the Palace of Justice in Colombia, portraying several of the key figures who were actually involved in the political attack. Under Siege primarily follows protagonist Pilar Navarrete (Natalia Reyes), a woman looking for her missing husband, Jimmy Beltrán (Camilo Amores), who worked at the Palace of Justice during the crisis.

The development process for Under Siege took more than seven years to complete in order to provide the most accurate portrayal of the events that have ever been dramatized in a television series. The production team interviewed dozens of actual people connected to the hostage situation, which lasted two days beginning on November 6, 1985, exactly 41 years before the Netflix series debuted. Under Siege also explores the aftermath of the crisis and the motivations of the attackers, the M-19 urban guerrilla group, which was allegedly funded directly by Pablo Escobar.

Black Doves

Black Doves season 2 just premiered on Netflix this Thursday, November 5, and is ScreenRant’s top choice for what to binge-watch on the platform this weekend. Picking up where season 1 left off, Black Doves season 2 follows Keira Knightley’s protagonist, Helen Webb, a member of the Black Doves secret society that carries out assassinations and acts of espionage for the highest bidder, regardless of nationalistic or ideological allegiances. Helen’s tasked with continuing to spy on her politician husband, Wallace, who has just been appointed as Britain’s new Prime Minister.

Black Doves season 2 features a robust ensemble cast, including Ben Whishaw as a highly trained hitman and Helen’s confidant, Sam, and new cast member Neve Campbell, who plays an American diplomat. Black Doves season 2 earned a 92% Rotten Tomatoes score, matching season 1’s near-perfect rating, and consists of only six episodes with a total runtime of just under 5 and a half hours. Netflix subscribers looking for the most entertainment value this weekend should press play on Black Doves season 2, which currently ranks on the streamer’s worldwide viewership chart.
