Having bagged numerous awards, he is also one of the most respected artists in Africa as a whole.
Born in Jos, Nigeria, 2Baba is from the Idoma ethnic group in the southern part of Benue State, in central Nigeria.
He attended Mount Saint Gabriel’s Secondary School in Makurdi, Benue state. After his Secondary School Education, he moved to Enugu state where he did his preliminary National Diploma course in Business Administration and Management at the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu.
Through the course of his higher education, 2Baba was busy performing in shows and events in IMT and other regional schools such as the University of Nigeria and Enugu State University of Science & Technology.
In IMT, 2Baba composed and sang jingles at the GB Fan Club at Enugu State Broadcasting Services (ESBS) in 1996. He got so engrossed and passionate with his music career, that he decided to drop out of school to pursue his dream full time.
2Baba was the leader of the now defunct group called Plantashun Boiz. When he moved to Lagos, 2Baba found two other talented artists with whom he would begin his band. With Blackface (Ahmedu Augustine Obiabo) and with musician Faze (Chibuzor Orji), he went on to form the trio band Plantashun Boiz.
Unfortunately, the unity of the band couldn’t stand the test of time, Plantashun Boiz disbanded in 2004. The trio released two successful albums Body and Soul (2000) and Sold Out (2003) under Nelson Brown’s label (Dove Records). After the breakup, the band came together to sing their final album together titled Plan B.
After the breakup, each member of the band sought to build a solo music career. 2Baba’s first hit album, titled Face 2 Face showcased him as a viable solo music artist. After this, he went on to release various other albums with hit tracks recognized both locally and Internationally. Most notable amongst his hit tracks includes African Queen, Ole, Right Here, Police (Skit), No Shaking, Implication, Enter the Place etc.

2Baba is married with kids to his long time heartthrob- the award-winning, Nigerian actress, movie producer, model and serial entrepreneur Annie Idibia (nee Macauley). The duo got married on 2 May 2012, in Lagos, Nigeria in a private ceremony.
2Baba was in previous relationships with two other women: Sumbo Ajala-Adeoye and Pero Adeniyi. He fathered two children with Sumbo Ajala and Three with Pero Adeniyi. Currently, he has a total of seven children named Isabella Idibia, Nino Idibia, Justin Idibia, Innocent Idibia, Olivia Idibia, Rose Idibia, Zii Idibia.
2Baba is also the founder of an NGO man 2Baba Foundation with the motto of ‘service to humanity”. The foundation’s work is centred around nation-building, peaceful co-existence, and accountability in governance.
