2027: Sheathe your swords, you will not work in vain – APC appeals to aggrieved assembly aspirants

The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has appealed to all aggrieved House of Assembly aspirants who contested on the platform of the party in the recently held primary election to sheathe their swords and work for the party in the forthcoming general elections.

The party made the appeal when the House of Assembly Reconciliation Committee met with the aspirants and candidates of the party on Sunday in Ibadan, the state capital.

The meeting was attended by the governorship candidate of the party, Senator Sharafadeen Alli; his deputy, Hon. Adesoji Adedeji; Senator Olufemi Lanlehin; Professor Taoheed Adedoja; and other chieftains of the party.

DAILY POST reports that some aspirants who contested in the last primary election for State House of Assembly seats were unhappy with the way some candidates emerged.

The party, however, appealed to all the aggrieved aspirants to sheathe their swords and work for its success in 2027.

Co-chairman of the House of Assembly Reconciliation Committee, Hon. Abisoye Fagade, while addressing the aspirants, appealed to them to cooperate with the leadership of the party.

Fagade, who doubles as the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism, NIHOTOUR, explained that all the aspirants would be rewarded for their loyalty to the party.

Fagade, who read the communique issued at the end of the meeting, also called on all members, leaders, stakeholders and supporters of the party to embrace the spirit of reconciliation.

He advised them to eschew divisive tendencies and work collectively towards building a stronger and more united party.

Fagade, who was flanked by the chairman of the committee, Alhaji Mufutau Adisa, and the secretary, Dr Rotimi Okeowo, said: “The Reconciliation Committee expresses its profound appreciation to all the aforementioned aspirants for their magnanimity, patriotism, maturity and commitment to the unity and progress of the party.

“The committee further calls on all members, leaders, stakeholders and supporters of the APC in Oyo State to embrace the spirit of reconciliation, eschew divisive tendencies and work collectively towards building a stronger, more united and electorally formidable party.

“The committee particularly commends the aspirants for placing the overall interest of the Party above individual interests and for demonstrating a willingness to work collectively towards strengthening the APC across the state.”

Alli, while addressing journalists at the end of the meeting, noted that the meeting was an indication that the party had recorded a lot of progress in its efforts to win the state in 2027.

He said: “I am happy. I told you two weeks ago when we had the other one that we are forging ahead. And we have recorded a lot of progress in APC ahead of 2027. This is an indication that we will win the forthcoming general elections in Oyo State.”
