2027: Northwest will be most consequential region – Buhari’s ex-aide

A former media aide to the late ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad, has said the Northwest will be the most consequential region in the 2027 presidential election.

Ahmad said the region remains a major support base for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 election.

In a post on X, the former presidential aide noted that the Northwest carries enormous electoral weight, with 23.8 million registered voters.

According to Ahmad: “The Northwest, Nigeria’s largest geopolitical zone, will be the most consequential region in the 2027 presidential election.

“With more than 23.8 million registered voters recorded by INEC, our region carries enormous electoral weight.

“From my observation, the region remains a major centre of support for President Bola Tinubu, with supporters across the seven states increasingly organising and mobilising ahead of the election.”
