2027: No fight with Atiku, we are one united family – South-West ADC leaders declare
Leaders of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in the South-West geopolitical zone have denied reports of a rift with the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
This is contained in a statement by the immediate past South-West Zonal Chairman of the party, Rasak Eyiowuawi on Sunday.
The South-West ADC leaders released the statement after a crucial closed-door meeting in Ibadan, Oyo State, stating that the party is united and stronger than ever ahead of the 2027 general elections.
They said Atiku remains a respected leader of the ADC coalition and there is no fight over presidential ticket.
According to them, reports circulating on social media that South-West ADC leaders rejected Atiku and backed Peter Obi are false, misleading and handiwork of mischief makers.
“There is no rift with Atiku Abubakar. We are one family in South-West ADC. Atiku remains our leader and father. We have no fight with him over ticket,” the leaders said.
They added that the ADC is the only party that can defeat the APC in 2027 and that they will not allow division to destroy the coalition.
“We are calling on all our supporters to disregard rumours of division in the ADC. Atiku is our leader, Peter Obi is our leader, Amaechi is our leader – we are all one. Our focus is to win 2027,” they declared.
The clarification comes amid reports that South-West ADC leaders rejected Atiku’s presidential ambition and endorsed Peter Obi as the sole candidate for the South.
