2026 U-17 WWC: Brazil coach Rilany anticipates tough test against Flamingos
Brazil U-17 women’s head coach, Rilany Silva, is expecting a difficult contest against Nigeria’s Flamingos, DAILY POST reports.
The South Americans will take on Nigeria in a semi-final tie at the ongoing 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup on Wednesday night.
The Flamingos started the competition with a 2-1 defeat to Poland but have improved massively, beating Puerto Rico, DPR Korea, Mexico and Venezuela on their way to last four.
Brazil, on the other hand, are yet to taste defeat in the competition, showing their attacking class all through.
Despite her team’s dominant performance in the competition so far, Rilany believes the Flamingos will not be an easy nut to crack.
“I’m expecting an extremely difficult match. Nigeria are a very physical team. By the 90th minute, they’ll probably still be running as if it were the fifth. We’ll need to be very strategic with our game plan to find ways to hurt Nigeria,” Rilany told FIFA.
Wednesday’s encounter, slated for the Mohammed VI Football Complex Pitch in Rabat, will kick off at 7pm Nigerian time.
