2025 NFL re-draft has Patriots taking different OT over Will Campbell

· · 1 min read

The 2025 NFL Draft did much for the New England Patriots, as it gave them several key starters that helped fuel their run to the Super Bowl last season.

The Patriots began the draft by selecting left tackle Will Campbell with the No. 4 overall pick in the first round. Campbell played well in the regular season but fell victim to a knee injury down the stretch of the year. He concluded the season with an underwhelming performance in the Super Bowl, which laid the groundwork for a retrospective envisioning of a new star to be taken with the pick over him.

According to Bleacher Report’s Gary Davenport in his 2025 NFL re-draft, the Patriots go with current New Orleans Saints left tackle Kelvin Banks Jr. over Campbell at No. 4 overall in the event.

Banks Jr. allowed five sacks and 46 total pressures last season for the Saints. He greatly exceeded Campbell’s 26 total pressures allowed last season, though the two allowed the same amount of sacks (5) on the year.

Despite Banks’ sound play in his first NFL season, Campbell performed up to standard for New England in 2025, even with his blunders on the year. He has the confidence of Patriots coach Mike Vrabel for next season, making Campbell a sound pick for the team.
