20 year old Chelsea striker seen as potential “Haaland understudy” in wildest rumour of the week

Marc Guiu has been linked with a move to Manchester City, one of the most unlikely transfer rumours we’ve heard in a while.

Things can get very funky in the last week of the transfer window as players and teams get desperate, but still, this is one story we can’t quite believe we’re seeing.

Graeme Bailey of TeamTalk, who isn’t a top source but does at least have a small reputation he wouldn’t want to damage, has just put out the story that Manchester City are interesting in signing… (wait for it)… Marc Guiu.

The young striker has been at Chelsea since 2024, but has been buried deep on the depth chart ever since. He hasn’t played regularly since the Conference League days.

He’s still just 20, but has shown very little in his cameos for Chelsea so far to show he’s ready for anything more than Championship football so far.

Their logic is that new Man City manager Enzo Maresca worked with Guiu at Chelsea, and that the coach likes the Spaniard. If he rated him so much, why did he never use him at Chelsea?

The idea that he’s seen as a “successful understudy to Erling Haaland” is just hilarious.
