18 Years Later, The Anime That Defined 2008 Returns With Perfect New Release

2008 was a stellar year for anime across multiple sectors. Black Butler made its debut alongside Soul Eater, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 set up the Zero Requiem, and anime like Clannad: After Story, Spice and Wolf, and Kaiba became genre pioneers and underrated gems. But for tsundere romance and the adoration of the general public, few anime could rival the debut of Toradora! Now, as part of a recent wave of new releases by Discotek Media, Toradora! has a brand-new Blu-ray release fans won’t want to miss.

Announced at Otakon in August alongside an impressive array of returning classics like Digimon and Mawaru Penguindrum, Toradora!: The Complete Series is available now as of October 27, 2026, on mediaOCD. The Discotek Media release includes the original 25 episodes as well as the OVA, with dual audio for sub and dub fans alike. For many, this was the definitive tsundere romance anime, and perhaps the most striking highlight of its genre and the medium overall for 2008. Now, beyond limited streaming availability such as on Prime Video, and vanishingly few other legitimiate options like Crunchyroll and Hulu, this is the best way to ensure it can be viewed on demand for the foreseeable future.

Toradora! Comes Home With New Complete Series Blu-ray Box Set

With an anime run featuring the small yet plucky and assertive breakout star Taiga Aisaka, the “Palmtop Tiger”, this series brought her together with fellow protagonist Ryuji Takasu, whose inwardly calm demeanor is offset by a deceptively intimidating presence. The anime won over legions of fans, with it commonly pointed to as a genuinely engaging journey of growth between its two leads as they confront their insecurities and ultimately fall in love. Regularly listed at $59.95, this early release period has the box set currently going for $47.99, so don’t miss your chance to own a definitive classic.
