14 killed as Russia, Ukraine trade deadly strikes

· · 1 min read

At least 14 people have been killed following a fresh exchange of attacks between Russia and Ukraine, with officials in both countries reporting casualties from strikes carried out on Sunday.

Authorities said Ukrainian attacks on Russian territory left at least nine people dead, while Russian strikes across Ukraine claimed another five lives.

The latest violence comes as both Moscow and Kyiv appear to be intensifying their aerial campaigns, with the conflict entering its fifth year and no lasting resolution in sight.

United Nations data indicates that civilian casualties in Ukraine have risen sharply this year, amid an increased Russian reliance on long-range missiles that are difficult for Ukrainian air defences to intercept.

Ukraine, meanwhile, has continued launching retaliatory attacks deep inside Russian territory.

Its strikes have targeted a range of sites, including energy infrastructure and commercial warehouses, as Kyiv seeks to increase pressure on Moscow and push it toward negotiations to end the war.
