While the Glee reboot is still far off, there’s already been a ton of buzz about the upcoming series, including what songs should be included in the next iteration of the hit series. For some reason, sitting down to determine what songs felt necessary to include specifically from the last decade of Glee-less nights felt infinitely harder than trying to narrow down songs from every possible era. After all, over the past 10 years, there have been shifts in the way we consume music, in how much music we hear, and in what music a Glee cast cover could benefit from.
For this list, I decided to look at the likes of the creators who have long been putting in the work on social media (I’m talking about you, Demi Devito) to keep the show alive long before the announcement of the Glee-boot. There have been people who have been shaping potential future episodes of the show online for years, and wondering what the music of today would be like if it were to make an appearance on the hit series. While this isn’t comprehensive by any means, these are a few of the songs I’d be shocked not to see on the upcoming Disney+ Glee reboot.
While we’re probably all positing that the Glee-boot will see several of the original New Directions members returning to McKinley for some glee club based reason, the majority of the picks on this list are more about the songs themselves rather than who would be singing them. Regardless, these are the songs that need to find their way into the brand-new story.

“The Subway”
Chappell Roan

If I’m being honest, the Glee-boot needs to have an entire episode of vaguely edited Chappell Roan songs, but the one I’m most hopeful about making its way into the series is “The Subway.” While it may be a bit on the nose for the New York-based Glee storylines, the idea of hearing Roan’s song that soars through lyrics about the pain of being reminded of a relationship lost could be phenomenal to bring viewers back into the story. Roan’s vocals would be a great fit for Lea Michele’s Rachel Berry, or could work well for a larger ensemble number.

“Please Please Please”
Sabrina Carpenter

Another singer that deserves their own Glee week in the reboot is Sabrina Carpenter. I can’t help but imagine that the creative forces behind the series (most notably Ryan Murphy, Ian Brennan, and Brad Falchuk) will do something like their season 5 episode, “A Katy Or A Gaga” with the artists of today, and the Sabrina Carpenter Olivia Rodrigo former feud implications are, while fairly old, right there. That being said: if I had to choose one Sabrina song to bring to the Glee stage, it would be “Please Please Please,” which can be suited to just about anyone on the cast.

“Wait For Me”
Hadestown Cast

Obviously, if we’re going to be diving head-first into a Glee-boot, we’re going to be seeing the best and brightest of Broadway in the past decade. While there are tons of musical theater songs I hope Glee manages to slip into the reboot, a few musicals specifically feel like they’re bound to be covered on the show. Hadestown, which debuted on Broadway in 2019, has some tremendous songs that the Glee cast could cover, but “Wait for Me” is one of the show’s most defining numbers. The song could showcase a new talent, or be something that a former New Direction-er sings to drive the plot.
7
“Beautiful Things”
Benson Boone
Benson Boone is someone Glee is sure to cover in the upcoming reboot, and “Beautiful Things” feels like it has Blaine Anderson (Darren Criss) written all over it. While Criss has yet to be confirmed for the Glee-boot, it feels more likely than not that he’ll return at some point, and there has quite literally never been a song more suited to his vocal range. The pop rock anthem with its soaring belts would be great for Criss as a performer, and the song itself could be an interesting one to bring in for Blaine’s character depending on where he is.
6
“Happier Than Ever”
Billie Eilish
<<img src="https://static0.srcdn.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/rachel-and-quinn-glee.jpg?q=49&fit=crop&w=825&dpr=2" />
</figure>
While there’s probably enough Billie Eilish music for her own Glee episode, too, I’m not sure that she’ll be one of the artists New Directions or their former members will be tackling with much frequency. Mostly, the production of the music doesn’t feel like something Glee would be likely to tackle, but the production of the Glee-boot will be vastly different than it was during the week-to-week run of its original network roots. That being said, “Happier Than Ever” is the most natural Eilish song for the series to jump into, especially with the lyrics painting such a vivid picture.
5
“Burn”
Hamilton Cast
<<img src="https://static0.srcdn.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/maxresdefault.png?q=49&fit=crop&w=825&dpr=2" />
</figure>
The other musical that I anticipate heavy representation of in the Glee-boot is Hamilton, because obviously they’re going to bake in as much Hamilton as humanly possible after missing the window the first time around. I would be genuinely shocked, though a bit pleasantly surprised, not to see a Hamilton-themed episode, but if I could only pick one song from the iconic musical to appear in the Glee-boot, it would be “Burn.” While I think “My Shot” would be great for a glee club audition montage, “Burn” has an edge because of its story, and the chance to see any of New Direction’s former powerhouses sing it.
4
“Stupid Song”
Olivia Rodrigo
<<img src="https://static0.srcdn.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/glee-season-3-nationals.jpeg?q=49&fit=crop&w=825&dpr=2" />
</figure>
While everyone’s instinct for Olivia Rodrigo’s music has been for Glee to dive into a Rachel Berry cover of “Driver’s License” with a quickness, I’d prefer to see something a little more off the beaten path. With the possibility of an Olivia Rodrigo episode creeping around every corner, it seems more likely than not that the series will see a lot of the singer’s music used in the reboot. That being said, allow me to begin my campaign for “Stupid Song” to become one of the Glee-boot’s Olivia anthems, especially if it’s given to someone who can handle it with ease.
3
“Angel of My Dreams”
<<img src="https://static0.srcdn.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/unique-adams-in-the-choir-room-glee.png?q=70&fit=crop&w=825&dpr=1" />
</figure>
While this is a more recent pull, JADE’s “Angel of My Dreams” is one of the songs I most want to see covered in the Glee-boot, specifically by Unique if possible. I think the song would need to be rearranged to fit Alex Newell in some ways, but their vocals would be tremendous with the song no matter what kind of arrangement came into play. While there are others who could crush “Angel of My Dreams” – which means it could become a ubiquitous Glee cast collaboration between several cast members – I think it would work well for a Unique return.
2
“Anti-Hero”
Taylor Swift
I agree with the general sentiment surrounding the desire to see Rachel Berry sing “it’s me, hi, I’m the problem, it’s me,” and so I am formally throwing my hat in the ring when it comes to Glee covering “Anti-Hero” by Taylor Swift. As someone who feels mostly neutral about Swift, I do think there are a few songs from her more recent albums that will wind up in the Glee-boot, but I don’t think there are many that I’m looking forward to. “Anti-Hero,” however, is one that I want to see on my screen more than most others.
1
“Coming Up Roses”
Harry Styles
Glee wasn’t always about the singing – sometimes, it was also about the dancing, and while I think a performance of Harry Styles’ “Coming Up Roses” would be beautiful regardless of who sang it, I’d love to see the song incorporated into the series for a performance. With Harry Shum Jr. currently putting his dance background to good use on Dancing With The Stars and Heather Morris all but signed on for the reboot, I’d be thrilled to see the orchestra-heavy piece on the upcoming reboot. Giving the whole cast the chance to shine should be the Glee-boot’s mission, and with the right music, it can do so.
